Below you will find the basic steps to help extend the life of metal rings, buckles and other hardware. These parts are strong and durable, but over time they may oxidize, become dull or discolor due to moisture, sweat, dirt, salt and intensive use. Please read these instructions carefully, and if you have any questions, let us know via our contact page.
Care Instructions for Metal Rings, Buckles and Hardware
Clean metal rings, buckles, clips, closures and other metal parts regularly with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. After use, remove dirt, dust, mud, sweat and residue from care products. Always dry the parts thoroughly before storing the product.
Preventing oxidation:
Oxidation can occur when metal comes into contact with oxygen, moisture, sweat, salt or certain cleaning and care products. This may appear as dull spots, discoloration, light deposits or small brown spots around rings, buckles or seams. Therefore, store products with metal parts in a dry, well-ventilated place and avoid prolonged exposure to rain, damp stables, sweat, manure, salt and aggressive chemicals.
Cleaning:
For regular maintenance, use a soft cloth and, if necessary, lukewarm water with a mild soap. Pay special attention to the areas around moving parts, seams and attachment points, as dirt and moisture can build up there more easily. Carefully rinse off any soap residue and dry the metal parts completely after cleaning.
Removing surface deposits or oxidation:
Light deposits or surface oxidation on rings and buckles can be carefully removed with fine glass wool, very fine steel wool or a soft scouring pad. Rub gently and always test first on a small, less visible area. Do not use coarse abrasives, hard brushes or aggressive products, as these may cause scratches or damage the protective layer of the metal.
Drying and storage:
Never leave rings, buckles or other metal parts wet. After cleaning, washing or use in wet conditions, always dry them completely with a soft cloth. Store the product in a dry place, away from direct moisture and away from chemicals, sprays, oils, leather conditioners and fertilizers.
Important:
Regularly check rings, buckles, clips and closures for wear, sharp edges, deep rust, cracks, deformation or loose attachments. Do not continue using the product if a metal part is damaged or could compromise safety. If in doubt, please contact us via our contact page.
