Veterinarian recommendations for safe grazing in a muzzle are a 3.5 to 4 cm grazing hole for 24/7, full time grazing. And 2 to 2.5 cm for restricted grazing, often required for horses with metabolic issues. The industry standard is 3cm and grazing holes are not adjustable.

Laura, Ok I don’t normally review or recommend products, but this muzzle is amazing!!!! Rilly is 19 years old and has Cushings and Insulin Resistance. She had a Lamanitic flare up last spring. I have never been able to get her to wear a grazing muzzle. She gets frustrated or maybe claustrophobic and takes it out on the other horses. Will chase them and bully them, or just run around spooking at everything with a muzzle on. Our muzzle is a synthetic resin. Resin is a substance of plant origin synthetically created to produce a polymer. This gives it a high tensile strength (+700 psi). The muzzle has as well a tear strength of +550 ibf/in. It complies with FDA requirements for food safety. And it contains natural UV protection. The light, thin appearance contradicts the extreme durability of the polymer material.

Well, you can wear as long as you think is needed! There is no limit in wearing. It does allow to eat and drink, but in smaller portions.
